Surabaya Real Food

Nasi goreng mawut aka fried rice, Tenggilis, South Surabaya. It's named "mawut", which derives from Bahasa Jawa term "mawut or awut-awutan". It represents the awful yet delicate mixture of the food itself: fried rice, fried noodle, vegetables, scramble egg, acar or sauerkraut , chicken chops, onion, cabai rawit or cayenne pepper. The mixture tastes sweet, tasty, and hot worths IDR6,000(=$0.6)
Check out the food stall near Jose Fuji Film shop, Tenggilis, close to Universitas Surabaya, Surabaya, East Java. I already had this nasi goreng mawut as dinner for 3 consecutive days and  probably will do again tonight. High energy food...

Various jajan pasar, sold at Chicco, groceries store, Tenggilis, South Surabaya. Clean and tasty.
Price range IDR3,000-15,000($0.3-1.5)

This one is "gorengan" or popularly known as deep-fried crispy snacks. It's sold near nasi goreng mawut stall and worths IDR7,000($0.7) for 10snacks. Commonly people eat gorengan with cabai rawit/chili and petis ( a dip sauce made of shrimp which results on super tasty flavour).
There are several kinds of gorengan: tahu isi (tofu with  smoothly chopped noodle+carrot inside, pisang goreng (fried banana), ote-ote (deep fried dough with carrot inside), molen (banana covered with starch), etc...
For me, the best would be tahu isi. =D
